Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths On Tuesday arrested Santanu Kumar Mallik, Block Education Officer (BEO) of Hindol in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district while demanding and accepting Rs 10,000 bribe from a teacher for release of his arrear salary pending on official ground.   According to Odisha Vigilance, the entire bribe money of Rs 10,000 has been recovered and seized from the possession of the accused.   Following a complaint lodged by the teacher, the Vigilance officials set up a trap to nab the BEO. Odisha Witnessed 14.65% Rise In Crime In 2022

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed about a 14.65 per cent rise in crime in 2022. According to a white paper released by the state Home Department on Monday, 1,78,190 criminal cases were registered in Odisha in 2022, including 1,379 murders and 3,184 rape cases. Of the 1,78,190 criminal cases, police have filed chargesheets in 1,18,547 cases.
