Bhubaneswar: The Budget Session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly is scheduled to commence on Tuesday with the House meeting at 11:00 am.
Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal will address the House on the opening day. Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the Annual Budget for 2023-24 in the House on February 24.
It is expected that this Budget Session will to be stormy as the Opposition BJP and Congress have drawn up plans to raise burning issues, including the alleged failure of the Crime Branch in unearthing the motive behind Health Minister Naba Das’ murder, to take on the BJD government.
On the other hand, the ruling party also held a meeting of its legislators to chalk out its strategy during the Budget Session. It will raise the issues of how the Union government is reportedly depriving the state of its dues, including rice for free distribution among the poor.
Following tradition, Odisha Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha convened an all-party meeting on Monday seeking the cooperation of the members for smooth functioning of the House.
The Budget Session is scheduled to continue in two phases, first from February 21 to March 1 and the second from March 10 to April 6.
