Balasore: In a major achievement, the Jaleswar anti-drug department has seized opium worth around Rs 1 crore from the National Highway No. 60 near the Amardarod Bypass.
According to sources, personnel of the Narcotics department and the Jaleshwar anti-drug department and an anti-drug satellite unit jointly seized 990 grams of opium and arrested a businessman in this connection.
According to Bhagwan Mahanandia, IOC, Basta Excise PS, the seized opium is said to be of over Rs 90 lakh in the market.
The Narcotics department has registered a case and initiated a probe to trace the other people involved in the case.
