Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Friday granted conditional bail to 29 lawyers who were arrested on charges of vandalism on the premises of the Sambalpur Bar Association in December 2022 during an agitation demanding the establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court in Sambalpur.
The hearing of the case was conducted on Thursday, but the court reserved its verdict.
On Friday, the High Court set conditions even after granting bail to the 29 lawyers. The High Court has set conditions, including not holding rallies, and issuing comments or giving ideas related to their demand to anyone. Although the High Court has granted conditional bail to the lawyers, the contempt case against them in the Supreme Court will continue.
It is worth mentioning here that recently the Supreme Court also criticised the members of the Sambalpur Bar Association for their unruly activities.
