CM Naveen To Leave For Mumbai Today On A Two-Day Visit

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will go on a two-day visit to Mumbai from Monday.

He is scheduled to attend the 2023 Sportstar Aces Awards function will be held in Mumbai on Monday from 6.00 pm onwards. The Chief Minister will be honoured for Odisha’s contribution to the development of sports.

In addition, the Chief Minister will meet some industry leaders in Mumbai.

The state government has been praised for organising FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup twice in Odisha. Recently, the state government set a record by building the world’s largest hockey stadium – the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, with a 20,000 seating capacity in Rourkela in just 15 months.

The awards, presented by IDFC First Bank, have 30 categories – the six Popular Choice Awards are Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, National Team of the Year, Club Team of the Year, Sporting Moment of the Year and Spirit of Sports.

There will be 22 Jury awards, the winners of which have been chosen by an elite panel headed by legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, Olympic gold medal-winning shooter Abhinav Bindra, former India hockey captain MM Somaya, chess great Viswanathan Anand, former India football skipper Bhaichung Bhutia and Olympians Anjali Bhagwat and Aparna Popat.
